Mission Editor Map Screen
This will take a few seconds. The background map is the “zoomed in” location of the position of the green dot on the Smaller Map. It defaults to camera 2. You may hold your mouse button down and drag the dot to a different location. Be very careful not to go outside the small map. Point your cartridge cursor to the different boxes and titles; at the bottom of your screen you will see the general Tool-Tip phrase. Note: The User Mission Editor Screenshot has the Tool-Tips event listed with —> pointing to them. This is the screenshot from HU08 but HU3 and HU4 have the same layout and control features match with Hu3 and HU4 also.
The Toggle Workspace Window is the top left. Small Map is lower left. Your Wind Direction is top right. Right side of screen column has the Hot Keys.
Note: This author recommends clicking the “save mission to disk” button on your creation before doing any test runs; which is located 3rd from the bottom under the Hot Keys.
Wind
To change the direction of the wind, simply hold your mouse button and cartridge shaped cursor over the arrow and slide it around. Make sure the MODE SELECT is turned on; it’s the S under Hot Keys and first one on top, right under the wind, on the right side of the screen.
Small Map
This is one of 8 maps included with the HU08 game. There is a description of each listed under the Map Overview on the Main Menu Screen. They include Central Rockies, Southern Rockies, Upper Midwest, Pacific Northwest, Southwest, South Central Plains, Northern Rockies, and Africa. Once selected you may not go back and change the map you selected, would be nice if we could though. But unfortunately, you have to return to the Main User Mission Screen and delete your “unnamed” mission.
The Green Dot- You may view different locations on the SMALL MAP by using your mouse button and cartridge shaped cursor. Click or slide the green dot to a different spot on the small map. Be very careful not to go outside the small map. The larger background map will appear and you may zoom in using the 4 camera “hot keys”. The “S” Select Mode must be on to do this.
Cursor
The cursor in this game is a shell cartridge shape and is used like any other cursor to point to objects or animals.
Tool-Tips
They are listed on most of the posted screen shot for easier referencing. They will normally appear when you point your cartridge shaped cursor to a selected item on almost all screens. They will appear some place near the bottom of that particular screen.
Hot Keys
Hot Keys include Select Mode, Delete Mode, Animal Placement, Script Point, Player Start, Object Container, Animal Trail, Checkpoint.
Four Camera Views which include Low Camera(1), Mid Camera(2), High Camera(3), Helicam camera(4).
The Toggle Workspace Window open /close, Save to Disk, Run Mission, and Exit Editor.
You can see further User Guide information on these Hot Keys by clicking the “Hot Keys” link on the right of this page.
